Mentha x piperita L.

According to Greek mythology there was a river nymph called Minthe, who lived on the Cocytus River in the underworld. Hades, the ruler of the underworld, came upon her and fell in love. Before they could be together Hades’ wife Persephone cast a spell over Minthe, turning her into a mint plant that people would walk upon. Peppermint can be used as a breath freshener, as well as to freshen many dishes.
